What is Play Machines Program?

Play Machines is an online program, created to accommodate online engineering education for students using LEGO® compatible building blocks.

What will students achieve at the end of the program?

Students who are participating in this program will learn important theoretical and practical lessons.

Students will be introduced to important scientists and inventors such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Sir Isaac Newton, Archimedes and more. Each of these valued figures has played a significant role in the development of science and technology today. We use their stories to inspire and educate our students.

Students will learn many different topics, such as the laws of physics, centrifugal force, centripetal force, the force of inertia, kinetic energy, potential energy, the law of action-reaction, lift force, torque, leverage points, load distribution, force conservation, angular momentum and more.

Each lesson inspires students to create, build and learn through a fun and entertaining LEGO® Challenge experience.

What is the program objective?

• Foster planning and time management skills

• Encourage independent creative thinking

• Develop one's ability to analyze engineering processes

• Broaden knowledge of the laws of physics and various natural phenomena

• Improve spatial recognition

• Cultivate a sense of self-efficacy

What is the recommended age?

Students age 6-9 years old, if a  5 years old student who is familiar with LEGO®  building can also participate in this program. Parents might or might not need to be together during the lesson depending on the student's advancement.

Is the Play Machines kit for sales?

Yes, the price of the program package is inclusive of the building kit.

​

It is LEGO® original or LEGO® compatible?

To make it affordable, the Young Engineers Online sets comprise of high-quality LEGO® compatible pieces, but they are not LEGO® original parts.

What are the contents of the set?

The Play Machines set contains a total of 369 parts, comprising a motor, a battery box (excluding batteries), rubbers, thread, and partition organizer. The set also contains spare parts.

What is the lesson flow?

Every week students will be given 2 models to build. They will first be given the theoretical explanation in a video format & a portal to access the building instructions in advanced for each model.  This will allow them to build at their own pace and enjoy playing with their model without rushing to disassemble them. We will then meet them in a scheduled live ZOOM session to reinforce their understanding of the theory, experimenting with them on the theories with a Q&A session.

How long is in each of the lesson?

Each ZOOM session will be 1 hour covering 2 lessons. 

​

How long is the duration of this program?

The 10 lessons program will take up to 5 weeks, while 20 lessons will take up to 10 weeks.

​

Can my child continue the remaining 10 lessons after completing his/her first 10 lessons?

Yes, you can just top up the remaining 10 lessons fees.

​

What is the total number of students per lesson?

We can accommodate up to 6 students per live ZOOM session.

​

Can I arrange for a replacement class if my child misses the lesson?

Replacement can only be done in the same week and must be informed 4 days in advanced. There will be no refund for missed lessons.

​

What is the language used during the lesson?

Lessons will be conducted in English at the moment. However, if you wish the lessons be conducted in Mandarin, kindly indicate your interest via email or message us.

Will, my child receive a certification upon completion?

Yes, a Play Machine Program digital certificate will be given to your child upon completion of all lessons.
